Review highlights
Based on 339 reviewsThe Lodge Coffee House is widely praised for its excellent coffee, fresh baked goods—particularly scones—and inviting atmosphere, making it a popular stop for both locals and visitors exploring nearby Blackford Hills. The cozy indoor seating and well-maintained outdoor area, which is dog-friendly and partly covered, contribute to its appeal. While customers appreciate the warm, intimate setting and value for money, some note occasional waits during busy weekends due to limited staffing. Overall, the café is recognized as a charming and convenient spot to enjoy quality refreshments after a walk, though those seeking a quick service experience might find queues less ideal on sunny days.
Fantastic little coffee shop open offering good value for money. Has a well established clientele of locals dropping in, as well as walkers, some with dogs as it's dog friendly. We particularly like the carry outside seating area, as it's astro turfed, enclosed and has a couple of tables under cover. Inside it's cosy warm but not huge, just perfectly formed. The tea and coffee are excellent and cold drinks are available. We like their soup and toastie combo if were passing around lunchtime. As the soup is wholesome and the bread and fillings are very tasty. Earlier in the day we go for their home made scones or the ginger cake. World's away from big brand outlets offerings.
In the weekend, expect a long queue, especially if it's sunny. It's just next to Blackford Hills which is popular for walks so this is the pit stop for visitors. The coffee is good, somewhere else I wouldn't queue for it but it's got a great location. Lots of dogs too!
Mick bakes fresh scones every morning himself. I had a latte and a bacon roll and sat outside in the sunshine. Perfect place. Now has indoor seating too.
Nice place after a lovely walk. Coffee and soup are good. Sitting outside would be great if it isn't cold. Dog friendly is also a point!
Little hole in the wall for coffee and baked goods. Great for start or end of walk. Some seating available. Bit of a wait as only manned by one person. Very good coffee and scone!
I’ve walked in the Hermitage since I was 5 years old and my mum and I used to talk about how great it would be to open up a little coffee shop. The Lodge Coffee House is the perfect answer to our pipe dream. Even better, it’s lovely and has delicious coffee, which can be hard to come by when it comes to decaf.
Best scones I've ever had (raspberry and white chocolate are perfection). Toasties are also excellent. Great spot to refuel when you've been for a run or a ramble in the Hermitage of Braid / Blackford Hill, and dog friendly.
OMG the ginormous ham & cheese crepe is the best i have ever had! so much butter lol~ I came here for some exercise but no regrets haha...
